Not much, but you have to make sure you keep a work/life balance, burnout doesn’t help anyone!

-Good health-physical and mental(what is research without health?)
-Close friends and family(you’d need them for moral support when things are tough-and to share success with)
-Belief and self-confidence(important to ground and convict yourself in whatever it is you do)

I believe that family needs to come first always. This is some times difficult to see in every day life as I tend to work long hours some days. However, I make a conscious effort to have a good life-work balance and I think I am getting better at it.
It is of course very important to care for our health, physical and mental. We often tend to overlook it!

As I work on creating new products/machines before the work I do there is research completed by lots of scientists and clinicians to best understand the requirements for the product. Once that is understood I am tasked with making it happen. This is normally a skeleton specification which would then be expanded on to ensure the product could be fully tested to the specification.
