During my doctoral studies I created a robotic hand exoskeleton (like a glove) that senses what your hand and fingers are doing when you wear it. I used this information to move a small robotic hand that could replace surgical instruments in the future. The system is still being improved and tested.

When it becomes a product that hospitals can buy and surgeons can use, it could improve surgeries by making the surgeons more efficient at what they do. The surgeons that I worked with on this project are very keen on itand believe that it could change the way they do things to the better: make surgeries shorter, surgeons more dexterous and precise and patients would go back to normal life sooner after operation.
